For more information on how we deal with anti-social behaviour please refer to our ‘Anti-social behaviour’ leaflet.
1. I'm having problems with my neighbours, what can I do?
If you feel safe to do so, try to talk to them, as this can often prevent neighbour disputes at an early stage. If you would like some guidance on how to discuss a problem with a neighbour please contact your local or regional office.
If you have already tried or do not feel safe talking to them or do not know who is causing the problem you should report it to us. You can do this or by contacting your local or regional office or by reporting ASB online.
2. My neighbour is making too much noise, can Viridian help me?
If the noise being made by your neighbour is excessive then yes, we may be able to help. We do not usually consider everyday living noises to be anti-social behaviour. Such noises include:
- Noise from toilet use
- Noise from conversations in adjoining properties
- Children playing during daytime hours
- Noise from washing laundry or dishes in adjoining properties
If the noise wouldn’t be considered everyday living noise, you should report the ASB to us by contacting your local or regional office or you can report ASB online. Your local authority’s environmental health department may also be able to assist you and you may also wish to contact your local council.
3. How can I report anti-social behaviour (ASB) to Viridian?
You can report ASB by contacting your local or regional office via telephone or you can report ASB online. If the problem you are reporting is an emergency such as threatened or actual violence, then you should telephone 999.
4. What will happen when I report anti-social behaviour (ASB) to Viridian?
When you first report anti-social behaviour, we will create a case on our anti-social behaviour database for investigation. Each case is given a unique case number that you should refer to if you need to contact us. The case will be given a priority category of 1, 2 or 3, depending upon the seriousness of the incident reported, and this will determine how quickly you can expect a response from us.
We will ask you questions about what happened. Then we will discuss with you how we can investigate the matter further and agree the next steps with you. We will always contact you after we have finished investigating your report to discuss our findings and any proposed further action.
