Alan Morkill House is a residential care home for older people and those who have dementia. The home consists of 49 individual bed-sitting rooms with full disabled access.
Facilities
- Welcoming and supportive -
Alan Morkill House is a modern home arranged on four floors. We have a large front garden which residents are encouraged to use.
The home is brightly furnished and has views of the local park. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly with qualified staff on hand at all times.
Family members and friends are always welcome to visit, and play an active part in the life of the home.
Each resident has their own bed-sitting room with en-suite shower and toilet facilities. The rooms are fully furnished and residents are encouraged to make their room as personal and comfortable as possible with their own belongings.
We offer care and support to enable residents to be as independent and active as possible. Each person is treated as an individual, with their own freedom of choice.
Rooms are arranged into seven groups, with a shared dining room and kitchen for each group. This encourages residents to get to know each other.
Residents are able to choose a local GP and staff work with other health professionals to provide a personal approach to the care. An optician, dentist and chiropodist also visit the home.
Our services
- Care and commitment -
Alan Morkill House is designed to meet the needs of people who are unable to live in their own home or sheltered housing. The staff support team is available 24 hours a day.
Help is on hand for any residents’ needs; washing, dressing, arranging activities, writing letters, booking appointments or just a cup of tea and a chat.
Each resident has a key worker who works with the individual and the family to draw up a care plan and make sure the person is getting the care and support they need.
Food is an important part of life, so we take great care to give our residents what they like to eat. A range of delicious meals are prepared in our main kitchen using as many fresh ingredients as possible.
Our on site catering team provides two main meals a day.
Breakfast and snacks are prepared by care staff at other times. Special diets which cater for religious beliefs or health requirements are available. Residents are welcome to ask for their favourite foods.
We provide a laundry service and a hairdresser also visits the home every Saturday.
Our staff bring energy and enthusiasm to the care of our residents, which helps to create a lively and warm atmosphere.
Care workers develop their skills and knowledge through ongoing training provided by Viridian Housing and through achieving NVQ level 2/3 in care.
Activities
Things to do, places to go
