There are also assisted shower rooms and bathrooms on each street. The rooms are fully furnished and residents are encouraged to make their room as personal and comfortable as possible with their own belongings.

A coin box telephone is available in the home or residents can have a telephone installed along with other amenities such as SKY TV and internet connections in their room at their own expense.

The rooms are arranged into four streets of 16. Each street has its own dining room, lounge and kitchen area along with an activities room. Residents are
encouraged to socialise to get to know each other and form friendships. Residents are also encouraged to take part in activities to learn new skills and to continue with their hobbies and interests.

When moving to Chestnut Lodge, residents have the choice of remaining with their own GP or registering with the home GP. Our staff also work with district nurses, psychiatrists and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to care. An optician, dentist / hygienist and chiropodist also visit the home regularly.

Our services
- Care and commitment -

Chestnut Lodge is divided into four streets. Each street is designed to meet differing needs of residents who require residential and nursing care for people with dementia.

Our dedicated staff support team provides 24 hour care. We will help our residents to book appointments, choose activities and assist in general tasks of daily living, as required.

Each resident is encouraged to develop a good relationship with their key worker, who will make sure they get the care and attention they need.

We know that food is important to our residents and we take great care to find out what each resident likes and dislikes. Our on site catering team provide three main meals a day, with a range of nutritious dishes which are monitored and changed according to tastes. Special diets which cater for religious beliefs or health requirements are also available. The catering service is provided by Avenance.

All our residents wear their own clothing and use our laundry service. A hairdressing service is also available.

Our employees bring energy and enthusiasm to the care of our residents, which helps to create a lively and warm atmosphere.

Care workers develop their skills and knowledge through ongoing training provided by Viridian Housing and through achieving NVQ level 2/3 in care. Our senior employees have all achieved the NVQ level 3 and 4 in care.

Activities
- Things to do, places to go -

Activities are individually developed with each resident, and their family whenever possible, taking into account their interests and choices. We have choices to cover creative, cultural, emotional, intellectual, learning and development, physical, sensory, social and spiritual needs.
