Wood House is a residential care home providing personal care and accommodation for 34 older people. Up to six of our residents may have mental health support needs.

Facilities
- Welcoming and supportive -
Wood House is a modern home arranged on two floors. The home has front and back gardens with outdoor furniture in the back which residents are encouraged to use, especially in summer.

We offer 33 individual bed sitting rooms with en suite washing and toilet facilities, and one double bed-sitting room with en-suite washing and toilet facilities and shower.

Furniture is provided and residents are encouraged to make their rooms as personal and comfortable as possible by decorating them with personal belongings. The rooms are arranged into four family groups to encourage residents to make friends and give each other support. Each group shares a lounge/dining room and kitchen.

When moving into Wood House, you will have the choice of remaining with your own GP or register with the local GP. Medical care is readily available from community and district nurses, visiting dentists, opticians and chiropodists etc. Some residents choose to attend them outside the home and staff will accompany them on their visits if needed.

Our services
- Care and commitment -
A caring staff team provide 24 hour care. We will help our residents with meals, washing, dressing, arranging activities and booking appointments. Each resident is encouraged to build up a good relationship with their key worker, who will make sure they get the care and attention they need.

We know that food is important to our residents and take great care to find out what each person likes. Our on site catering team provides two main meals a day, with a range of nutritious dishes which are quality checked and changed according to residents’ tastes. Every meal has at least two choices. Breakfasts, snacks, tea and cold drinks are can be prepared by carers as required. Special diets which cater for religious beliefs or health requirements are available.

All our residents wear their own clothing and are free to use our laundry service. A hairdressing service is also available in the home.

Employees bring energy and enthusiasm to the care of our residents, helping to create a lively and warm atmosphere. Care workers develop their skills and knowledge through ongoing training provided by Viridian Housing and through NVQ qualifications in care. Our senior employees are all qualified with NVQ3 in Social Care or above.

Activities
- Things to do, places to go -
Activity programmes are individually developed with each resident and their family, taking into account an individual’s preferences and interests. A timetable of daily activities is offers dancing, sing-alongs, quizzes, parties, bingo and summer outings to parks, sea side towns, museums and other places our residents may choose. Residents can also choose to attend places of worship and community centres with or without our employees.

- Getting around -
Wood House is located behind Tooting High Street. It is within walking distance of Tooting Broadway shopping centre and easy reach of local bus and underground services.

There are excellent transport links including northern line underground, buses to Mitcham, Kingston, Colliers Wood, Croydon, Sutton, and London West End. The nearest mainline station is Tooting with trains to Clapham Junction.

Wood House is in a new housing development in Tooting Broadway, South London. It is just five minutes walk to Tooting High Street with its many shops and amenities.
