Here at Viridian we understand the importance of being an environmentally friendly organisation, both in our housing and work offices. We have a dedicated green team, made up employees, residents and a full-time environmental manager.

After speaking to our residents and other key stakeholders, we have identified the following key priorities:

• continue to build new properties that are energy efficient and, where possible, make our existing properties more efficient
• reduce unnecessary waste by using recycled products, proving recycling facilities and encouraging employees and residents to use them
• promote the efficient use of water in all the buildings we construct, own or manage.

Targets will be set to achieve our green ambitions through the green strategy and its sub-strategies:

• energy/carbon management (housing and office stock)
• water management (housing and office stock)
• waste management and recycling
• sustainable procurement/resources management
• transport/travel
• adaptation to the effects of climate change.
