Home swapping

If you're thinking of moving we've got some handy tips for you

To search for suitable mutual-exchange partners we recommend you register free with MoveMaker. MoveMaker is Viridian’s home swapping service available for use by all social housing tenants in the UK. You can download the MoveMaker app to your Apple or Android smart phone or tablet, or register online at www.movemakerapp.co.uk.

Other swapping options

You can register free with the Homeswapper's mutual-exchange service at www.homeswapper.co.uk

Please note that as of 1 December you will need to select Optivo as your registered landlord, and any registrations under Viridian Housing will no longer be accepted.

Councils and other housing associations
Many councils have a list of residents who want to swap their home. Some housing associations may also have a list of residents wishing to move, and you should check with them directly. Your housing officer will be able to tell you which councils and housing associations have properties in the areas you are interested in, and you should contact their local housing officers for further information.

Word of mouth and advertising

Some residents find people to swap with through friends or by asking around. You may see adverts in free papers or in local shops for people who want to swap their home. For your own security, never give your address in these adverts – only give a description of your home and a contact telephone number.

As you may be aware, we are preparing for our merger with Amicus Horizon due to complete shortly.  As such we have reviewed and made some changes to our policies.

From 19 May 2017, we will be closing our waiting list for internal transfers and can no longer accept any applications for rehousing.  Tenants who require transfers to alternative accommodations should contact their respective Local Authority to register on their waiting list.

There are other options you may wish to consider such as Mutual Exchange, Mobility Schemes, and Shared Ownership schemes.
