Safer communities

We're committed to tackling anti-social behaviour and making communities safer

We're committed to tackling anti-social behaviour, hate crime and domestic abuse to help make the communities that we live in safer. We hope that you will find the resources on this page helpful.

Anti-social behaviour

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) is behaviour that is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more individuals not from the same household. It covers a wide range of problems from vandalism to noise, through to hate crime and domestic abuse. A full list is available on our ASB page.

We've also got handy advice on how to record and report ASB, and information on what happens next.

Domestic abuse

Domestic Abuse

At Viridian we have a campaign called No Homes for Domestic Abuse; this means we take domestic abuse very seriously. We know that in the UK 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will experience domestic abuse at some point in their lives, and we are working to help stop this.

If you feel threatened or afraid of someone in your home, or have concerns that another resident is experiencing domestic abuse, please let us know. We are here to help.

Hate crime

We define a hate crime as any incident, which may or may not constitute a criminal offence, which is perceived by the victim or any other person, as being motivated by prejudice or hate.

We condemn all forms of hate incidents / crimes. Consequently we will deal with all reports of hate crimes as an emergency and will offer the victim an interview within 24 hours of the incident being reported.

Safeguarding is about protecting vulnerable adults and children from abuse and neglect. It's also about making sure people are helped to get good access to the support they need to get the most of out of their lives and to get full equal rights.

Safeguarding children and adults is everyone’s responsibility and the mistreatment of any child or adult is not acceptable. Remember, doing nothing is not an option.

In an emergency always  contact the police on 999, for non urgent Police reports please dial 101
