Volunteering can help you gain new skills, meet new people, and help you give back to your local community. It’s also a great opportunity to gain experience if you’re interested in training, or getting a job in a particular field. Volunteering with us will also help you gain the confidence, skills and experiences you need to get a job.
We regularly advertise for volunteers to help us at Viridian. We work with applicants to identify how we can make the volunteering experience most valuable to them. We have already seen a number of volunteers move into employment with a few of them securing permanent roles with Viridian.
We work with our residents to find tailored volunteering placements that match their needs, particularly if none of our current opportunities suit them.
This is a four-month programme to help isolated residents connect with facilities in their neighbourhoods. We are looking specifically for volunteer befrienders who are aged 50 and over, and are able to give four hours per week.
Volunteers will receive full training from mental-health charity Mind as well as access to a dedicated mentor and further volunteering opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity to have a positive impact on another person’s life, and learn new skills.
The Money Mentor programme is a six month volunteering placement offering you work experience, training and qualifications so you can help our residents develop a better understanding of their personal finances.
Volunteers will be asked to commit two days a week for six months.
Our Safer Heroes project trains volunteers to support our older, more vulnerable residents. As a volunteer, you will work with us to make sure our residents are healthy, happy, resilient and safe in their homes.
Safer Hero volunteers visit our residents at home; they act as a befriender and offer general advice on safety in the home.
We are looking for volunteers to commit two days of volunteering a week for six months.
Our Winter Hero volunteers contact our older customers during the winter time. We reach out to all our customers who are over 60, and are not living in retirement accommodation, to make sure they are safe and warm in their home. As part of the project we do things like checking the heating is working, raising repairs, and giving advice on saving money and energy.
We are looking for volunteers to commit two days of volunteering a week for four months.
